The Albertville Tornado

Many of you know that a tornado came very close the other night. However, this is the same one only it touched down in this town (Albertville), about 35 miles from us. We are very blessed! I feel so sorry for these people. We have friends and family there. The Foodland store carries out peaches. You will see photos of it below. Please pray for all of those affected by tornados over the weekend!

The front of the Foodland store looks fine from the front (in pics below), just the front windows blown out. This is the back of it................

Mornin'

There is a little known fact about living in a manufactured home.......you have to get out during tornados. Now, many of you will ask, why we don't live in a site built home. Well, to be honest, brutally honest.......... my parents as well as us and my brother and his family live on one farm. My bro and my parents each have site built homes. We all decided that hubby and I would just have a manufactured home and when/if something happened to my parents they wanted us to have their house. It would be simplier to move the manufactured home out, than try to do something with an extra site built home. We could live here forever if we so desired! We love our house!

Some perks of our house.
  • It's paid for!
  • We love it......other than when tornados approach!
  • It is so pretty!

There have been tornados and strong storms allllllllllllllll night long here. One funnel cloud came with a mile of us. I had slept from 10:30pm until 12am. The weather radio woke me up then. I then in turn woke hubby......he had come to bed at 11pm.

We stayed at my parents until almost 3am. We went to the basement once. The boys got no rest and hubby had to leave for work at 3am! My Mom is the wrold's worst to ge the boys wound up and you cannnot get her to leave them alone and try to be quiet. No wonder they couldn't go to sleep over there.

We finally got home and got to sleep around 3:10am. Hubby slept a little over and left at 4:30am. I was sleeping good until 6:30am, when a little boy named Mmonkey woke his Mommy and his brother...........calling..........I want out!

So, we have had breakfast and I have some clothes washing. We are having a mandatory nap time in one hour!!!!

Oh, did I mention that our appointment at 9:30am, one hour away at Portrait Innovations will now be rescheduled. With these two ill boys and one grumpy mommy, it is a no go!

So, for now I am goin to ge the boys ready for their, make that my nap!

Blessings and hope you are safe!

Tornado Damage Pictures

Here are some pictures. We could not get in the worst places. A few homes were leveled. Here are the best ones, as we were in the SUV on the road, going about 30 mph when these were taken.

The tornado could have been far worse. No lives were taken.....praise God for that. The path was 15 miles wide. It seems to just have touched here and there, taking most all power lines and trees with it. Lots of pine trees down and torn all to pieces.

This is tin off of chicken houses. This is tin in the power substation.

Picture to the right bottom used to be another chicken house .

There is almost nothing left of the house in the 2 above pictures. We know the family that lived here. They are all fine and had left minutes before the tornado, to go grocery shopping. This is what they found when they returned. The back of the house is gone.

The picture with the dozier in it, is to scoop up the dead chickens. That is a flattened chicken house. Two of the chicken houses were completely leveled. The other six were totaled out as well. They all had chickens in them. MY in laws live 2 miles away and had chickens in their yard from these houses.

Picture above, the tin was peeled up on one side and laid on the other side.
This use to a barn (picture to left).

This is what use to be a carport.
This house had major damage all around from trees and tornado. Notice the far bottom.....a dish network dish. the picture to the left use to be a greenhouse.
Oh and i any you could possibly give me advice about putting up pics and getting the description beside them, I wojuld greatly appreciate it! The pics come up side by side when I down load them (I want them all on the left side). Then I cannot move them. When I write the description it looks crazy. Sorry about that.......
Blessings on you all!

Sleet, Snow and Rain

This is a picture of my Durango just after the "snow". This may not happen again for a decade, so I thought I should save it.

This is the pond just to the side of our house and behind my parents' home.

Yep, it's a real wintry mix. One minute it is snow, the next ice and sleet and then a little rain. It's not sticking just yet, but the temps keep dropping. It may not be long until the roads start getting slick. Hope Bulldog gets home before dark. Please keep his travels in your prayers. Stay warm! I am just going to continue to sit by the fire, rock my babies and grab the occasional sip of hot homemade cocoa loaded with marshmallows. Warm blessings to you all!

UUHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! GGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

What is with the weather? It's 75 here today! Yes, I know I live in Alabama, thank you very much!:)

I have the air running and the Chrsitmas tree is sitting dark, it's too hot to turn the 1200 lights on. No, I do not intend on burning the house down, it's pre-lit.

Anyone else feeling the heat today?

If it is going to be this hot, it could at least rain.

Truly though. No compliants here. Where else could my precious angels enjoy riding the tractor with Paw-Paw, feed the cows and have us chasing them around the pond.

God is awesome in all he does and does NOT make mistakes. Thank you Jesus for the beautiful day!
