Talking Washers & Dryers

We are on the lookout for a washer and dryer. The front load kind. I think we want the pedestols since I am so tall. However, I still am unsure. What do you think? We are just beginning to really look. We knew the day was coming sooner than later since our Whirlpool set is almost 13 years old and saw the laundry of our premie twins with reflux and c. diff. My washer tub is beginning to rust and the dryer does not dry well. The cost to fix them is too much considering their age.

So what kind of w/d do you have? Where did you purchase it? What features do you like/not like about it. What features do I need? Any other suggestions? Thank you for your time! Hope everyone is well! Blessings!

I have a Samsung washer and dryer that I purchased at Best Buy and they are fantastic! I think that Samsung or LG are good brands to consider. Also Kenmore at Sears are now made by LG, so they are really good machines. Have fun shopping!

I have the stacking washer and dryers and although I am short, they work well for me!

Our washer (front loader) and dryer are Frigidaire brand and we really like them. We also have the pedestals which are great for storage. Ours have some great features that we really enjoy...on our washer, there are dials for delicates, deep clean-sanitize, and stain remover. Our dryer has many different settings including one for towels, heavy duty, and delicates.I would think that living in the country with the farm and all, plus two little boys, some of those settings might be helpful especially the deep clean and sanitizing features. We bought ours from a local appliance store which has been there for years as we wanted to support a local business and their prices were more than comparable to the big box stores. Hope this helps! We have a front loader washing machine, and I hate it. I cannot wait until we can replace it with a top loader. It doesn't get our clothes clean: John's shirts come out of the washing machine smelling like his deodorant, and, if I'm not careful, my towels begin to smell after a few washes. (Neither of these ever happened in the eight years we had a top loader.)

My advice is to skip the top loader. They're more expensive and don't clean as well.

I forgot to add though Marva, that if you do get a front loader, you will want to make sure to keep the door open after you are done doing your laundry....the only bad thing about the front loaders....if you don't "air" them out, they can get a "stink" about them....we usually just run a load with bleach alone about once a month and that helps tremendously! Also wiping the rubber rim with a dry towel helps too.

If you get the Pedestals be careful. Friends of ours got a set from Lowes and one day they were washing and heard this large crash and the washer and dryer were off the pedestals and crashed on the floor.. to make a long story short her load became uneven and litterally shimmeed off the pedestals and crashed.
