Thursday - Sunday

Yesterday (Thursday), Monkey fell off of the couch and landed wrong. To make a long story short he almost broke his right foot. He has a bad sprain. We are home after a long ordeal at the doctor's office.

Hubby had to work from 6:30 am til 9pm yesterday and it was so hard on me. MY mom kept Tiger and my Dad went with me and monkey to the doctor's office.

We were all gearing up for the semi-annual yard sale (Friday) today (which I forgot to take pictures of). My Dad's sis came up and got my stuff last night and she and my mom put it out. There was tons of stuff there but only my aunt (my mom's sis) and mom to work it. Too much for two people, so my brother stayed home from the orchards today and helped out. The boys and I went and got breakfast for everybody this morning. Did I mention that I still have a twin size bed and more clothes to take over there? We stayed at the yard until Monkey had a COMPLETE meltdown. He has NEVER acted that bad ANYWHERE before. I know his foot is bothering him some.

The doctor said if he is still in pain, favoring it or it is swollen Monday to call and they will get us set up with a peds ortho dr at Children's hospital. He said the x-rays looked good but there is always that chance and since his foot just doesn't look right, then again there's that chance. Lovely just lovely!

Tomorrow is yard sale again (it is mostly indoors) and it is suppose to storm. hubby is home from work thankfully. I need a break and he told me to go and hang out at the yard sale. We will probably shut it down early. We never have a lot of business on Saturday usually. We also have to get decoration flowers for the 6 YES, 6 decorations we will have in the next 3 weeks. Sunday is 2 of those decorations and then we will go to preaching with my Dad at his church (where I was raised). We also have a lunch thing to attend that afternoon (with the boys no less).

I am way behind on dishes, laundry, ironing, etc. It will wait, I have to be right there with the boys......EVERY second it seems. Yesterday I was withing 5 feet of him when he fell. I had stepped over the baby gate to get a drink of water and before I knew it he was running on the long couch. I just couldn't catch him in time. I am still beating myself up over that.......

I just don't get it. You know there are "moms" in this world that don't love their kids and let them do whatever and you wonder if that child will "make it". Then there are the overprotective moms like me, that watch and guard their children will all of their heart and strength and they still get hurt. I feel like the worst Mommy sometimes.........

Have a good weekend! Blessings!!!!!

Definately don't beat yourself up!!! My little one fell off a hotel bed when he was 6 months old. Totally my fault! I had just stepped away. DH and I just looked at each other then rushed back into the room. Crying... but no baby! I felt terrible and we were so worried (he fell on his face). The Lord sent several people to encourage me though... these things happen to kids. Whether we are there or not, these things happen. I think it is part of what they need to go through.

Try to remember, you can't keep everything from happning. The Lord is the TRUE protector of your children, and he doesn't prevent everything. Sometimes these things need to happen. He uses them in our lives and He is sure to use them in your baby's life!

You have got to let that GO!! The Lord would NOT have you focus on that.....He would have you count your blessings that....It wasn't worse.....it wasn't his head....there were NO stiches AND you were able to get it looked at. You are a good mom becaue you care and you did your best....God Bless, Pam, South Bend

Accidents happen, Marva. Monkey isn't seriously hurt, so it's okay. I don't remember where it's found, but in situations like this I think of the Bible verse that says we are not to live with a spirit of fear.

This wont be the last time he gets hurt. Its part pf growing up. Tink, who is 11 stepped in a hole just as it was time to leave for Awana last night. She had to stay home and keep her twisted ankle on ice. She was so disappointed. These things happen and its no reflection on your parenting. Take it from one who has parented for 26years; you're a good mommy.

Oh dear, you sound so much like ME at that stage! The other ladies are right, as much as you would like to be in control of all those circumstances, you have to let God watch over your little ones (after you've done your best).

I have two boys, and I KNOW they are going to get their share of scrapes and such. It IS a part of growing up, just not a part that I care for;)

I hope Monkey heals quickly, and that your sale goes well. TAke care~

Poor little guy. I know exactly how you feel. Marva, you are a fantastic mom. Kids will get hurt no matter what we do. It's how they're wired. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

Marva things happen especially to boys. Boys will be boys. But I know how you feel as a mother, my daughter is just like you gets upset when the kids get hurt, and grandma has to be the adult and tend to them cause mom looses it.
Dentist office, I had to go because she was afraid they would hurt the 7 yr old and she could not see him in pain so I am the one that went back with him.

Marva its natural, dont beat yourself up over it. The Lord will protect them.

Aw, you're a good mama, I'm sure :D . My little boy fell and hurt his leg when he was younger, and I was right beside him when it happened. He had a red cast and I felt like *everyone* in the entire world must wonder what kind of mama I am to let my little guy get hurt like that. It just happens!

Marva, you are a wonderful mom! Sending hugs your way and prayers for a swift recovery. I can sympathize and relate to how you feel, my daugther recently fell and bumped her head on the cover for the heating vent and it cut her-I was right there and I felt like I should have been able to do something. I think I was more upset than she was!

Take care! I hope you are able to relax some tomorrow.

Wait till they start running with knives and scissors!

Don't beat yourself up. They cannot grow if they are covered so much that they do not learn independance and how to pick themselves up when they fall. Each time they hurt themselves it is a learning moment for them. They learn to be more careful, not to touch that, and many other lessons.

My youngest slammed his finger in the car door and it is black. When we got in the car yesterday he made his sister close the door and said he wasn't closing doors for a while.

Marva, don't beat yourself up about the fall. My husband was changing my sons diaper one day and he fell off the changing table. He was strapped in too! My husband turned to put the diaper in the pail and my son rolled over changing pad and all. He was ok, but it scared us to death. You can't watch them every single second of every day. There will be times when they fall. This is a great time to remind them not to do certain things that might hurt them. That is why you are their mommy, so you teach them right from wrong, and what might hurt them. I hope he feels better soon!

Let us know how the yard sale turned out. I went to a semiannual consignment sale in our area today and scored lots of bargins. Heather
