Planning Ahead

The month of February has eaten a lot of our money up. Money that we did not have until January. That was rather quick, but we had planned ahead. We had very little saved but then we had our taxes done the third week (I believe) in January. It is hard to explain but what it boils down to with hubby winning the truck from his company they added the winnings on to his income because it was over a certain amount and then they helped pay the taxes on it and we were out some but very little. We had to pay into state and we got some back and got to keep the extra on the truck tax. Don't try to understand, it's complicated. Kuddos to you if you do. Our accountant did it, called the IRS and we got it figured out. Basically we came out to the good and decided to do some things.

We paid off 2 medical bills, bought and paid a contractor to install the play yard. We also had my Mom's birthday party, started a savings account, bought the boys clothing and things they would need for the summer, paid for huge dental visits for me, planned their(the boys) birthday party next month, planned an overnight trip and a singing for hubby's birthday next month. We also paid on a cookware set we bought (MISTAKE......don't ask). We also had a few of other things to pay for outside of the regular spending.

So, there you have it in a nutshell as to why the cost of this month's spending is so high. However, we had planned ahead.

Hubby is hoping to sell the old red truck and get a smaller one to drive back and forth to work.

We still are going to open the boys savings accounts this month as well and that will serve as college funds.

So, how are sending/saving your your tax refund?

Thank you for sticking around and many blessings!

Thanks for the info on the playsets. John looked them up last night, and he liked what he saw.

UGH Taxes. Now that DH partime business is now full time because of his layoff from the his 17 year old factory job we'll probably use the money to pay property taxes(heartburn), house insurance, car insurance, and the rest will be a cushion to see if DH business can make it through the summer(its mostly a summer time business) which I think it can. We have customers starting to call from all over the state. God is good!

Cookware? I caught that little word in there? tut tut.
Yep we've all fallen prey to stuff like that.

Congrats on the refund. It feels good to get some things paid off and set up for the future, doesnt it?

Our tax refund will go towards paying more taxes. I'm glad that you came out ok with the truck.

Ours went to paying of Kim's school tuition and Larry's truck. We also paid off a handful of little things that have been looming in the pile. some in savings and the rest to get a few things that we had been needing and I just hadn't been willing to put the money out for yet. Now I'm using the money from tuition payments and truck payments to put toward my car and few other things to get them paid off sooner. We are so much closer to being debt free and I'm feeling really good about it.

I dont mind telling what he does :)My DH is a dog trainer. He raises and trains hunting dogs. Hes very good at it. Hes got a talent for it. Im very proud of him. Theres not alot of trainers around these parts. We sell our dogs all over the country. He was planning on making this full time in a couple of years but when the plant shut down we were forced to put it into full time much sooner than planned.

Don't feel bad about the cookware, I bought steaks from a traveling salesman, he came about 3 months later and asked if I wanted to buy more I told him no that we didn't like the first ones and asked for a refund, you have never seen a grown man run so fast!

As for the tax refund it will be going to pay more taxes, our slip rental for the boat and camper and to buy the boys books for next school year (a big disadvantage of private school).
